Dermaplaning: A Cutting Edge Treatment

Posted By Nicole

What is DermaPlaning?

DermaPlaning is a very safe and simple procedure for exfoliating the top layer of the skin and removing the vellus hair (peach fuzz). Very delicately using a scalpel in light feathering strokes, DermaPlaning removes 2 to 3 weeks worth of dead skin cells. It leaves the skin feeling smooth and rejuvenated. DermaPlaning will help remove light surface wrinkling and improves overall texture of the skin.

How does DermPlaning work?

DermaPlaning can remove up to 2-3 weeks worth a dead skin and build up. It can be performed every 3-4 weeks. DermaPlaning uses a specific blade known as a dermatone blade. It relies on a continual fast movement to safety remove layers of the dead skin. Your esthetician gently moves the blade along the surface of your face, holds the skin taught and uses swift movements. The treatment can range from several minutes to an hour, depending on the depth of unwanted skin sitting on the face. This is a non-surgical procedure and requires no recovery time or has any visible negative side effects.

What are the benefits of DemaPlaning?

This treatment will encourage the growth of new, healthy skin cells. DermaPlaning is a highly effective way to resurface the skin. The treatment is very gentle will not aggravate the skin, which more aggressive exfoliators do.

DermaPlaning helps unblock blackheads making pores appear smaller and it speeds up healthy cell production. With continued use, it will help with acne scaring. For sensitive skin, this is a great alternative to microdermabrasion or chemical peels.
